Information Technology

We offer regulatory compliance services for the Information Technology Industry including EMC and Electrical Safety assessments at our test laboratories.

Information Technology Equipment Compliance

The Information Technology Equipment (ITE) market is fast-paced and manufacturers are under constant pressure to be first-to-market with new and innovative products. To remain competitive and to keep up with changing technologies, manufacturers must streamline their regulatory compliance process to ensure that it is robust but effective.

Eurofins York (formerly York EMC Services) has many years’ experience working with manufacturers of ITE and similar products and understands the needs of the industry. By working closely with us, the regulatory process will add value to your products and get to market and through the CE Marking and other global certification processes in the most efficient way possible.

Testing

Our UKAS accredited test laboratories No. 1574 have many years of experience of working with manufacturers in the IT industry and are well-equipment to meet their needs.

Please refer to our UKAS schedule for full details of specific standards we are accredited to and contact us for a full list of standards we can test to for CE marking and global compliance.

EMC

Information technology equipment (ITE) is largely covered by product-specific standards of which one has changed recently. EN 55022, the product-specific standard for ITE emissions was withdrawn on 5th March 2017 after over 30 years of existence. It has been replaced by EN 55032 which is the emissions standard for Multimedia Equipment (MME), whose definition now includes ITE for CE marking and other global compliance certifications.

The product specific standard for immunity of MME was published in late 2016 as an International Standard, CISPR 35. Its published European version is EN 55035 which has a date of withdrawal of superseded standards of 28th July 2022.

Electrical Safety

Information technology equipment is covered by the product specific standards IEC / EN 60950-1 and EN 62368-1 for safety testing to the Low Voltage Directive. As with EMC, this standard is changing to reflect the change in technology and the increasing multi-functional nature of traditional ITE.

Unlike EN 60065 and EN 60950-1, EN 62368-1 is technology independent and focusses on the risks that may occur and gives manufacturers greater leeway in deciding how to design protection into their equipment.

The Date of Withdrawal, which is the latest official date by which national standards such as EN 60065 and EN 60950-1 that conflict with EN 62368-1:2014 have to be withdrawn, has been changed by CENELEC from the 20th June 2019 to the 20th December 2020.

What this means is that as of the 20th December 2020, the superseded standards (EN 60065 and EN 60950-1) will cease to give presumption of conformity with the EU LVD (2014/35/EU) and are replaced wholly be EN 62368-1:2014.

We also offer CB scheme testing for global market access including the Met Mark for access to North America and Canada.

Radio

We offer radio testing for equipment with embedded wireless technology; whether it be to check pre-tested modules incorporated into your product or full compliance testing.
