UKAS Accredited Testing Now Includes Radio Devices
York EMC Services recently expanded its UKAS accredited testing services to include testing Radio devices to the R&TTE Directive (being replaced in June 2016 by the Radio Equipment Directive; RED).
UKAS Accredited Radio Testing
Accredited testing can be carried out against European Harmonised Standards for a range of devices including:
- Short Range Devices (SRD);
- Radio equipment in the frequency range 9 kHz to 25 MHz and inductive loop systems in the frequency range 9 kHz to 30 MHz
- Radio equipment to be used in the 25 MHz to 1000 MHz frequency range with power levels ranging up to 500 mW
- Close range inductive data communication equipment operating at 13.56 MHz
- Wideband transmission system in the 2.4 GHz band (radiated spurious emissions)
- Broadband Radio Access Networks (BRAN) 5 GHz high performance RLAN (radiated spurious emissions)

Using Pre-Approved Modules
Even if your radio modules are pre-approved with a matching antenna and the primary function of your device is not a radio product, the performance of the radio modules may be affected when incorporated into your product.
Under these circumstances we would recommend at least a partial re-test of radiated spurious emissions to ensure that the combined product remains compliant.
